North of Thailand

Around one week ago we left Bangkok and everything was managed- we have the Myanmar visa and have seen a lot of Bangkok. It was time to start the real trip...and besides we had somebody else on our side- Z. When i was in San Diego in 2012 he host me. We meet over Couchsurfing. He is a chinese guy who grew up in the USA- he has a lot of energy and sometimes reminds me of the Chinese men of hungover=) hahah.

First step was Sukhothai. Its was the first capital city of Thailand hundreds of years ago. During the war against Burma it get totally destroyed. So finally we hired some bikes and explored the destroyed capitel city of Thailand. The next day we made our way to Chiang Mai. It is a lovely colourful city. We visited the Tiger Temple ( i could cuddle some baby tigers although if they were quiet annoyed of all that tourists). And we had a massage from prisoners of the woman prison who learn to give manages and that on us tourists. Ans it was surprisingly good and relaxing. From Chinag Mai we traveled to Pai. Pai is a hippieĀ  town in the mountains. Its is just lovely, the food is great and we could rest a bit from the last days of travel. But we had to go on...the next step was Chiang Rai. Chiang Rai is the biggest City in the North of Thailand. Its pretty close to the Golden Triangle (the point where Laos, Myianmar and Thailand are meeting and the opium buisness boomed in the past). We saw some small villages of old communities and the white temple. That was pretty all of the things we did in the last week. Melanie and me enjoy every day and work perfect together. we are happy about the good food and i guess we eat every day too much...But Thai food is too good. Only the coffee is awful. We are well...

Today we arrived in Nong Khai. It means we are on the way to the east part of Thailand which should be completly different and the real Thailand. Exciting....

xx
